Planning a Pooja Room Wall

Measure the panel, not the room

A poster tile is bought as a panel of a set number of pieces, not by area like ordinary wall tile. Decide the height and width of the backdrop first, then we can tell you which designs fit it and how many pieces each needs.

Work out the lighting before you choose

Pooja rooms are usually small, often windowless, and lit by lamps rather than daylight. That is the one place in a home where a glossy or textured surface genuinely helps, because it multiplies the little light there is. Bring a photograph of the space with its usual lighting on.

Leave room for the shelf and the lamp

Decide where the shelf, the hanging bell and the lamp will sit before the panel is set out, so the motif is not cut through or hidden behind a fitting. This is the single most common regret we hear about a pooja wall.

Consider the soot

Lamps and agarbatti leave a film over time on any surface directly above them. A matt tile is easier to wipe than a painted wall and will not mark permanently, but keep the panel slightly to the side of the flame rather than immediately over it.
