1200x1800 mm is slab territory. One tile covers about 23 square feet, so a modest hall can be laid in a handful of pieces and the floor reads as a continuous surface with only a few joints in it.

What You Gain
Almost no grout. On a marble-look design that is the whole argument, because grout lines are what give away a printed stone floor. At this scale the veining can also run across pieces rather than repeating every two feet.
What It Demands
Access
A 1200x1800 tile will not go up a tight staircase or round a narrow landing. Measure the route into the room, not just the room, before you order.
A flat base and an experienced tiler
At this size the screed has to be genuinely flat and the tiler needs the right suction lifters and a levelling system. This is not a job for a general mason.
Cutting waste
Every cut wastes a large piece. Allow fifteen per cent, and expect the layout to be planned around where the full slabs land.
Where It Suits
Open-plan living rooms, showroom and office floors, and feature walls where a single piece can run floor to ceiling.
