What Is in This Range

38 designs, 18 from Creanza and 11 from Morson. Just under half the range is 100x1200mm, a narrow plank that lays like floorboards, with the rest in 600x1200mm and 600x600mm. Almost all of it is vitrified tile, with one ceramic design.

The surfaces divide between matt and Shapetech (4D PRO), a textured finish where the surface follows the printed grain. On a living room floor that texture is what separates a tile that reads as wood from one that reads as a photograph of wood, particularly in low evening light.

Wood Look Tile Against Real Wood and Laminate

Humidity

Bengaluru is kinder than the coast, but a monsoon still moves solid timber and lifts laminate at the joints. A vitrified tile does neither, and it does not need resealing or polishing.

Wear

A living room floor takes furniture being dragged, grit from shoes and years of traffic across the same path to the sofa. A wood look tile takes that without the surface scratching through to a different colour underneath.

What you give up

Tile is cooler and harder underfoot than timber, and it will not have the give that a wooden floor has. In a bedroom some people prefer the warmth of the real thing. In a living room the practical case usually wins.

Laying a Plank Floor

Plank tiles are laid with a stagger rather than in a grid. Keep the offset to about a third of the plank length rather than half, and run the planks along the longest wall so the room reads longer. Allow fifteen per cent for cuts, since a plank layout wastes more at the edges than a square format does.
