Where Gloss Works
Walls
Walls stay dry and are not walked on, so the slip argument does not apply. A glossy bathroom wall makes a small room feel larger and wipes clean without scrubbing.
Kitchen backsplashes
Cooking oil lifts off a glossy glaze with one wipe. In the texture of a matt tile it needs a degreaser. Behind a hob, gloss is the practical choice, not the decorative one.
Pooja rooms
Usually small, often windowless and lit by lamps. Gloss multiplies what little light there is, and the surface stays dry.
Where It Does Not
