400x400 mm Tiles (16x16 Inch) in Bangalore
400x400 mm, sold as 16x16 inches, is a small square floor tile. It covers about 1.72 square feet each, and it earns its place where a floor needs grip, drainage falls, or the ability to replace one damaged piece cheaply.

Why Smaller Is Sometimes Right
A floor that slopes to a drain is built from small tiles, because a large rigid face cannot follow two directions of fall at once. That is why parking areas, utility floors, wash areas and open balconies are usually laid in this size rather than a large format.
Small tiles also mean more grout lines, and grout gives grip. On a surface that gets wet or takes vehicle tyres, that matters more than the look of an uninterrupted floor.
Replacement
If one tile cracks under a dropped tool or a vehicle jack, replacing a 400x400 is a small job. Replacing a 600x1200 in the middle of a parking floor is not.
