Buying tiles in Bangalore usually starts online and ends in a showroom. People shortlist on a phone, then come in to see the tile in person, and about half of them change their mind within ten minutes of picking one up. That is not indecision. A tile photographed under studio lighting and the same tile under your own tube light are two different products.
This guide covers how to shop for tiles in this city, what online listings cannot tell you, the questions worth asking in a showroom, and how to plan a visit to our BTM Layout store so one trip settles the whole selection.
| Task | Better online | Better in person |
| Shortlisting styles | Yes, faster and free | No |
| Judging shade and undertone | No | Yes, screens shift colour |
| Checking surface texture and grip | No | Yes, you need to touch it |
| Comparing two similar tiles | No | Yes, side by side on a counter |
| Confirming stock and batch | Partly | Yes |
| Working out quantity | Partly | Yes, with your floor plan |
A tile is a manufactured product with measurable properties, and most of those properties are invisible in a photograph. Use the website to narrow 400 tiles down to eight. Use the showroom to pick one of the eight. Trying to do the whole job in either place alone wastes time.
The stock question matters most. Tiles are made in batches and shade drifts between them. Ordering the whole quantity together, including the skirting allowance covered in our skirting tiles guide, avoids a repair patch that never quite matches.
Bring dimensions and let the showroom do the maths with you. Area plus 8 to 10 percent wastage, converted into full boxes, with skirting counted in running feet. Our tile sizes guide has the full calculation, including the extra allowance for diagonal layouts.
Buy the wastage. The most common regret in tile buying is ordering exactly the area, then finding that three tiles cracked during laying and the batch has sold out.
You cannot test water absorption on a showroom counter, but you can do three useful checks in about a minute.
Tile classification, water absorption groups and dimensional tolerance in India follow Bureau of Indian Standards specifications, which is what separates a branded tile from a lookalike at the same rate. For material choice, our vitrified vs ceramic guide covers which body belongs in which room.
My Home Studio is at No 17, 12th A Main Road, KEB Colony, BTM 1st Stage, Bengaluru 560029, opposite the water tank and a short walk from the metro station. We are open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 7:00pm, and Sunday from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
There are over 3,600 products on display, covering wall tiles, floor tiles, sanitary ware, faucets and architectural hardware, so a single visit can settle tiles and fittings together rather than across three shops. If you want a specific model kept aside, call +91 99008 68203 before you travel.
If you cannot visit, we also run a 360 degree virtual tour of the showroom, which is the closest thing to walking the floor from home.

The rate is usually similar, since both sell the same manufactured product. What differs is what you can check. In a showroom you can confirm shade, texture, edge quality and stock in one batch, and get the quantity calculated against your floor plan, which is where money is actually saved or lost.
Room measurements in feet, the floor plan, and samples of anything already fixed, such as a kitchen shutter, laminate chip or paint swatch. Tiles are chosen against decisions that are already made, so selecting without those samples usually means a second trip.
Stack two tiles face to face and check they sit flat without rocking, look for a manufacturer stamp on the back, and run a finger along the edge to judge whether it is rectified. For wet or outdoor areas, ask for the water absorption figure rather than judging by appearance.
Add 8 to 10 percent to your measured area for cuts and breakage, and 15 percent for diagonal or herringbone layouts. Order the full quantity in one batch, because shade varies between production batches and a later top-up may not match.
You can browse the full range on the website and take a 360 degree virtual tour of the showroom floor. For shade and texture, a visit is still worth it, and we can keep specific models aside if you call +91 99008 68203 in advance.
Yes. Confirm the delivery address, the floor, and whether offloading is included when you place the order. Tiles are heavy and delivery terms vary by quantity and location, so it is worth settling that at the time of booking rather than on the day.
Reading about it only gets you so far. Everything here is on the floor at our BTM Layout showroom, so you can put two options side by side, in daylight, before committing. Tell us what you are choosing between and we will have them ready before you arrive.
