Parking areas and driveways, photographed finished. A parking tile has a harder job than any other in the house: it carries vehicle weight, takes grit and tyre marks, and sits in the rain.
228 photographs, showing 121–144.
Every surface here is matt or heavily textured. A parking tile has to hold grip under a wet tyre and under a foot stepping out of a car, and a smooth glaze would not last a season under grit anyway.
Parking floors are laid in smaller tiles so they can follow the fall to the drain and so a single cracked piece can be replaced without lifting half the driveway.
Notice how many of these use a pattern or a rustic face. Tyre marks, oil spots and settled dust are far less visible on a broken surface than on a plain one.
Every photograph above links to the tile in it. To browse by design instead, see Geometrical, Plain & Rustic or Moroccan . For advice rather than photographs, read our parking tile guide.
