Ask three showrooms in Bangalore what bathroom tiles cost and you will get three different numbers, because each one is quoting a different thing. One is quoting the cheapest plain tile in stock. Another is quoting an average across their range. A third is quoting a premium import to anchor the conversation higher. None of them is lying, and none of them is telling you what your own bathroom will actually cost.
This guide breaks bathroom tile price down by type, using the rates we actually hold at our BTM Layout showroom, so you can work out a realistic number for your own bathroom before you shop.
| Finish | Floor tile price | Where it's used |
| Plain and texture | ₹65 to ₹67 per sq ft | Everyday bathroom floors |
| Geometrical | ₹65 to ₹87 per sq ft | Floors where a pattern is wanted |
| Marble and stone-look | ₹65 to ₹77 per sq ft | Mid-range to premium floors |
| Moroccan | Around ₹87 per sq ft | Pattern floors, usually in one zone |
| Wooden-look | Price on request | Floors in a dry-area bathroom |
These are our floor tile rates, where price is listed against the product. Bathroom wall tiles, covered next, work differently.
Walk our bathroom wall tile range and you will notice most pages say price on request rather than a fixed figure. That is not a sales tactic. Wall tile pricing depends on finish, print quality and batch in a way floor tile pricing usually does not, so a single published number would be wrong for half the range. Send us the specific design you are considering and we will confirm the current rate.
What we can tell you without a quote: highlighter and subway tiles sit toward the accessible end of the wall tile range, marble-look and terrazzo sit in the middle, and Moroccan pattern and large-format marble slabs sit at the premium end.
A 7x5 foot bathroom has 35 square feet of floor, but once you add walls tiled to the ceiling, the wall area is usually three to four times the floor area. Most of a bathroom's tile budget goes into the walls, not the floor, which is why a small bathroom can still carry a large tile bill.
Large-format tiles, such as a 600x1200 slab run vertically on a wall, cost more per piece and need more careful handling to lay, so the labour cost rises alongside the material cost. A small-format tile costs less per piece but takes longer to lay because there are more joints.
Plain and textured finishes sit at the lower end. Pattern finishes such as Moroccan, geometrical and highlighter cost more because the print or mould work is more complex. Marble-look and terrazzo sit in between, depending on how fine the veining or speckle detail is.
Tiling only to four feet and painting above, with waterproof paint, is the main way to cut a bathroom tile bill without changing the tile itself. It saves on both material and the labour of cutting pieces to fit around fittings higher up the wall.
Take a standard 7x5 foot Bangalore apartment bathroom, tiled floor to ceiling at 8 feet.
Tile material alone for a bathroom this size commonly lands in the low tens of thousands of rupees once walls are included, before adhesive, grout and labour. For the full renovation picture, including sanitary ware, faucets and labour, our bathroom renovation cost in Bangalore guide breaks down every line item.
A porcelain tile with very low water absorption generally costs more than a standard ceramic body at the same size, which is part of why two tiles that look alike can be priced differently. Material pricing in India follows grades set by the Bureau of Indian Standards, which is part of why two tiles that look similar in a photo can carry different prices: water absorption and dimensional tolerance differ between grades even when the surface pattern looks the same.
Our floor tiles for bathrooms run from about ₹65 to ₹87 per square foot depending on finish. Wall tiles are quoted on request because price varies more by design, so bring your shortlist to the showroom or call for a confirmed rate on the specific tiles you want.
Wall tile pricing depends heavily on finish, print detail and batch, more than floor tiles do, so a single published number would be inaccurate for much of the range. We confirm the rate once we know the specific design and quantity.
For a typical 7x5 foot bathroom, floor tile material alone in a plain finish costs roughly ₹2,000 to ₹2,500. Wall tiles, which usually cover three to four times the floor area in a floor-to-ceiling bathroom, make up most of the total tile bill and are quoted on request.
Yes. Geometrical, Moroccan and highlighter finishes cost more than plain and textured finishes because the pattern needs more complex printing or moulding. The difference is moderate rather than extreme, and patterned tiles are usually used in a smaller area, which can keep the total cost close to a plain-tile bathroom.
Yes, meaningfully. Tiling to four feet and painting the rest with waterproof paint cuts both the tile material and the labour needed to cut pieces around fittings higher on the wall. It is the simplest way to reduce a bathroom tile bill without changing the tile itself.
